Title: Shineback Music & Video
Post by: Robert on October 30, 2012, 04:23:55 PM
Here's what Simon's chucked up onto Soundcloud so far:

Shineback Album Audio Teaser (http://soundcloud.com/thebigredspark/shineback-album-audio-teaser) - This runs through much of the album and gives a good idea of what to expect without giving too much away about what happens when. There have been quite a few changes made since this was stuck together, so it shouldn't spoil the first listen when the album is released.

Here Come The Envoys (Intro) (http://soundcloud.com/sigod/here-come-the-envoys-intro) - This is a rough mix of the intro to a song called Here Come The Envoys that Simon posted about a few pages back.

The Envoy (http://soundcloud.com/thebigredspark/the-envoy-celebr8-theme) - The Envoy was used as the Celebr8 theme, but I believe it was a leftover piece from Shineback, so it's rather similar to some elements of the album.

Little Keys (http://soundcloud.com/thebigredspark/little-keys) - Little Keys won't be on the main album, but it will be featured somewhere as a bonus track. Personally, it's one of my favourites from the Shineback canon and I think of it much more than a mere extra.

Rise Up Forgotten, Return Destroyed (Clip) (http://soundcloud.com/thebigredspark/rise-up-forgotten-clip-hen) - This is a short snippet of the album's title track to give a little taste of Henry Rogers' drumming contribution.

I Called Him In Vain (feat. Danny Claire) (https://soundcloud.com/thebigredspark/i-called-him-in-vain-shineback) Another rough mix of a track from the forthcoming Shineback album - Rise Up Forgotten, Return Destroyed. This track features the marvellous talents of dance songwriter and vocalist Danny Claire.

They are the four uploads that are most apparent to me as being directly relevant to RUF,RD, but there are a few other tracks on Simon's Soundcloud page here (http://soundcloud.com/thebigredspark) which may be of interest.

Over on YouTube, there are three related videos:

1. A teaser trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I87bnRN4Ypo&feature=plcp&noredirect=1) for the album, featuring the more ambient element of some of the music.

2. The Memory House 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Me7krCeUAo&feature=plcp) video blog.

3. The Memory House 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG_nKkxRPoA&feature=relmfu&noredirect=1) video blog. This features the multi-vocal part Roger speaks of.

I've dropped this info onto the Frost* forum. Hope it develops some interest there as well.

Phil from Radio Caroline was asking about it on Fridat night.  I gave Phil the good news that it will be out this decade.

Is it me or is there a problem playing Simons Soundcloud stuff? :(

Hello there, Green Flash. Welcome to the forums.  :)

I don't seem to be having a problem playing them where I am. What sort of problem are you having, exactly? Soundcloud made a few changes recently to, well, everything on their site, so maybe a spanner has been dropped into the works somewhere.

Soundcloud is finicky about your browser and version of Flash Player.

Yes indeedy Green Flash, welcome to the Forum.  :)

I haven't encountered any problems myself but Soundcloud has indeed updated its site recently (jumping to HTML5) and so maybe that could be causing issues.

Well that's Rise Up listened to - I'm going to take a break before Return Destroyed.

WOW - I don't know why I might have expected anything less but this is a remarkable piece of work so far and I'm going to be humming Crush Culture for the rest of my life.

Just try to hum the breakdown in the title track. I dare you :)

Listened to the rest while slightly wired through lack of sleep this afternoon. It's also amazing, but I need to ilsten more before I can properly comment - the title track is immense though and I love the degree of light and shade in the whole album.
