1  Tinyfish Wibble / Other Bands / Re: Summers End Festival 2016 - venue and full line up announced on: January 26, 2016, 09:56:13 AM
Finally I get a chance to see Knight Area, and Seven Steps.. could be interesting. I've got a couple of recent live tapes somewhere, and they appear to have the ability to get very jazzy in the middle of a song.
(I seem to remember Lambsie once telling me "I love that jazzy stuff" at a gig once).
I'll even give RPWL another listen.

I think Denver are going to be crushed in the Superbowl.

I think you could be right.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Cam Newton will be wearing in the press conference after the sight of his headgear the other week.

Eppyfest was, again, a very interesting event.
Firefly Burning had some odd instrumentation, Trojan Horse tried to demolish the place with a 'Duracell-Bunny-on-speed' performance, Unto Us played a new song, and Stackridge were a bunch of old pros who just seem to enjoy playing live.
Attendance was up on last year (more chairs had to be put out) and from my view, everybody was happy.

Eppyfest next weekend.
Unto Us are playing, but apart from that I have very little idea of what I shall be seeing.

Dames Of Darkness Festival at the Robin, Bilston, 9th May 2015.
I only attended day 1 (Mr.Forster may well be approaching the venue for a second day as I write this).
It was a day of female fronted bands, many of the symphonic/goth/metal genre (with diversions to pop-ish or doom territory), with some interesting costumes, extensive use of backing tapes, and a pleasantly busy venue. For me, Bad Pollyanna were the band of the day. Another event to put on the list for next year, along with a note to get some more black clothing.

Frontiers Rock Festival - 11-12th April 2015 - In the middle of nowhere just outside Milan.
The VIP ticket cost a bomb, but it certainly made life easier, all I had to do was l get a taxi to the hotel which was interesting enough (distance from motorway junction to hotel about 50 yards which actually equated to about two miles - even the taxi driver seemed to be doubting his sat-nav). FM played a blinder at the acoustic pre-gig in the hotel - things were looking good.
Saturday, all on to a coach to go to the venue, which is stuck in the mddle of a small industrial estate, but with a great set-up. Basically a small hangar with permanent PA etc .. for live gigs, plus an internal 'restaurant' for food, outside seating area, and grass to relax on between bands, although with 15-20 minute changeovers being the norm, there wasn't much time to relax. Saturday highlights were FM and Eclipse (with Joe Lynn Turner's voice being the day's disappointment), and Sunday saw Pink Cream 69 and Pride Of Lions impressing (POL are the latest band Of Jim Peterik who wrote most of the Survivor material back in their heyday).
All in all it was an excellent weekend, good weather (still warm at midnight), good people, some excellent bands, and the thought that I may just want to do it again next year.

French air traffic control permitting, I'm off to Milan this weekend for the Frontiers Rock Festival. Two days of melodic rock & AOR, including FM and Praying Mantis. If it's half as good as last year's Firefest, It'll be wonderful.
The venue looks superb from the photos, and the purchase of a VIP ticket should make things even more comfortable.

Leamington Spa - possible. I must check my holidays to see if I can take a recovery day and actually stay until the end this time.

After a dodgy start on Friday, the line-up looks quite interesting. It's hard to believe it's 2011 when Credo last played SE. I'm looking forward to 3rDegree, Introitus and Magic Pie. Plus finally a chance to see Abel Ganz.

I did make it to the Karnataka gig at the Bristol Bierkeller on Friday evening. The band played well, and the 'new' singer sounds good, and despite it being her third tour (I think), she still looks very enthusiastic, which is more than can be said for the rest of the band. The venue and audience level may not have been inspiring for the band, because the Bierkeller is a 5-600 capacity room, and there was an audience of about 50. For a band that has played Bristol on the previous tours, this must have been a disappointment.
Compared to the my previous week's gig (Son Of Man at the Devizes Conservative Club), the Bierkeller gig seemed almost low-key.

James, as somebody who has suffered with bad knees for years, you have my sympathy. One of my bad knees was due to a motorcycle accident and only diagnosed more than 20 years later (when everything started to wear out) and the other knee suffered due to compensation. As with most joint problems, you only realise how much work they do when they start to give you problems, which for me means no running, no cycling with any effort involved, and varying levels of pain when walking, getting up from being sat down, or even just standing.
My advice (from the pain corner) would be talk to a physio. The exercises suggested by my physio have done wonders, but they have added the best part of another hour a day to any other exercise regime I'm trying to implement.
Best of luck.

I know.
Pallas enter - Rob exits.

Were Pallas loud?

I was at the Bierkeller in Bristol on Friday evening (Inkubus Sukkubus & Cauda Pavonis) and saw a Karnataka gig listed. I may have to investigate, having avoided them since their Summer's End show a few years back.
And Government Mule seem to have added a shepherd's Bush Empire date in May, which could cut my Dames Of Darkness at Bilston attendance from two days to one.

That'll do so far.
How tall is the stage. The last time I saw Matt with TFATD, he was scaring people in the front row while 'leaving' the stage mid-set, and taking a certain amount of 'stage furniture' with him.
Introitus should be interesting.
