That pic of me is the f*cking bomb!

My favourite moment of our career is of us at Katowice airport, two in the morning.  We were all either drunk, sobering up or falling asleep, waiting for our plane home, watching a DVD on Jim's Mac of our performance some 4 hours beforehand.  At that moment, it felt like the five of us were in our own little bubble.  Then Clive Nolan & his band appeared & the spell was broken, but for that 45 mins, it felt like we were the only five people in the world.

Thoroughly enjoyable night.  & decent music for once.

Bring on the minefield!

A prize to the first person who can edit James's recent review of The Reasoning to be about murder.

I can write my own reviews  Smiley

I can't wait to read the review -

"The murdering began with me struggling to smash the victim's skull in with a lead pipe, whilst simultaneously writing about it".

It does my head in that Rogers can drum twice as fast as me with half the effort  Embarrassed  I did find it hilarious that not only did he not set his kit up, he got someone else to line-check it before they went on!  I always told myself that the day I get someone to do this for me is the day I've made it.  I bet he didn't even pack it down  Smiley

Highlight of the drum-based brilliance for me though, was when the pre-gig room found out that both drummers were intending to use their own kits, & the logistical problems that would inevitably arise as a result.  You basically had a room full of people whinging... & then me & Hen, wondering what all the fuss was about  Smiley
7  Tinyfish Wibble / Gigs / Re: Tinyfish at the BOTY awards - 05/03/2011 on: April 30, 2012, 03:47:39 PM
I have no problem with Mostly Autumn - their music is good.  I have no problem that they won a heap of awards.  I predict they'll win nothing next year.  Indeed, this is my prediction right now:

Band - Pendragon.
CRS Gig - Pendragon.
Album - Passion.
Guitar - Nick Barrett.
Keys - Clive Nolan.
Bass - John Jowitt.
Drums - Scott Higham.
Male Vocals - Pete Nicholls.
Female Vocals - Christina Booth.
Best Track - This Green & Pleasant Land (from Passion).
Best New Band - Pendragon.

Just stumbled across this - was he right, folks?

I had a few mates who came down, & they were complaining about insanely early last trains; this may have been to DeeExpus' cost.  Thought they were awesome though - & they have Louis XIV playing guitar for them!  Good coup, that.

Did he?  That is truly surprising, I wonder what sort of welcome he got.
10  Tinyfish Wibble / Off Topic / Levon Helm on: April 19, 2012, 08:55:23 PM
My most recent major influence, Levon Helm, has died peacefully today, aged 71.  I often wonder what kind of drummer I'd have been if I'd found Levon when I was a kid; a more balanced one, I think, is the answer.  RIP Levon; you were one of the all-time greatest.

Katy Wix.  She plays the part well, but yes, it is up there with Pantaloon as a stock character.

I must admit, I find it more "witty" than "funny".  A few jokes made me laugh out loud during the read-through, but most of it made me go, "Eh?  Oh, I get it, that's a pun based on that particular saying.  That was a clever pun".
13  Tinyfish Wibble / Band Wibble / Re: Not Going Out on: April 15, 2012, 01:24:24 PM
Nicely done Leon. The rim-shots worked brilliantly. Was that scripted or did you offer?
Might be a rude question but I assume there's more earnings if you do more than the noddies in the background? It's like a speaking part for a drummer! Smiley

Scripted, but I was already on better money due to the miming in the group shots.

That fetching wig was annoying to the point of rage-inducing.
