It was difficult to say how busy it really was.  I suspect that there was space, but we couldn't get to it because the raised bit at the back was being used as some sort of control desk for the live recording plus a camera on a stand.  Inside there were two further cameras on tables/platforms, each with on operator stood on the table/platform.  I'd guess that between all this equipment, about 25 people couldn't get in.

Of course, normally we would have been there more than 5 minutes before it started.

I have no problem with the place being rammed - BUT it is not fair to charge people if there is no hope of them seeing anything.

They had an auction and a raffle.  I didn't win anything which might be just as well as I'm not sure how I would have dealt with winning a curry night out with the band.

I had a lovely evening, but that was mostly down to the people I saw in the audience.  If I hadn't known the material beforehand, I certainly wouldn't have learned anything new last night.  What is good for the band isn't necessarily good for the audience, as Mouse said, but it seems that only the bands likely to generate big audiences are getting booked.  Don't like to moan about the Peel as obviously I love it, but I also live in hope of the refit extending to the 'facilities' !

I wish the aircon had been turned on earlier. It was seriously uncomfortable in there, and playing sweaty sardines is not my idea of fun. I'd just got to the point where it was completely unbearable and told Simon M (who came with me last night) that I needed to go somewhere cooler, at which point the aircon went on.

But the music was very enjoyable.

We went to the Mehrish for a quick curry beforehand, as Simon's a veggie. I thought I'd try the vegetable biryani, and was most entertained to find a couple of bits of a most unusual and unexpected vegetable in it. I had never before realised that sheep were a vegetable.

I used to have a bigger sig but Robert kept moaning about it so I have been reduced to this now. Sad

Liking the sound of a Clive Nolan dvd shoot in Poland...
It is a Saturday next February, I expect to co-incide with half term so that Sian can attend.  I'm going to do my best to get along to it.  Clive said that he needed to have it all recorded this autumn, and that he'd spent a month doing the first 90 seconds.  He told us that he spends most time on the start getting a really big sound that grips the listener, but this one needs to be more subtle.  So there will be a 90 second intro followed by the big overture.

It was only a matter of time. Cows have been vegetables for ages.

1) Is anyone going to see Pallas (and Matt) in February that might also be driving back to anywhere near North London?

2) Is anyone going to Mr So & So in February  - same question applies.

Mme Cholet is coming down for Mr So & So, but I imagine that if we're getting the train home we'd be leaving pretty early.

I need to check the date for Pallas, but would expect to be doing both and could give you a lift home.

Wild horses couldn't drag me to see Pallas. Even if Matt is supporting.

Mr. So & So looks like a go-er...

Let me know if you want a lift.

I kind of agree about Pallas.  Their former singer was in the crowd on Saturday.  He won't be going to the Pallas gig either.
