I just wish the soundman had been up to the highly complex task of being able to mix two vocals, a guitar and a keyboard.  Roll Eyes

Guess which soundman it was? Cheesy

To give him his due, he did a good job in the Galahad set.

Nellie accused me of saying profound things. So profound, I have no clue what they were.

You weren't doing your idiot savant act again - I've told you to save that for the cabaret.

Can I just say that while I was nattering to Alan Reed, Nellie came up and hugged me for about a minute. She then release the hug and exclaimed 'Oh, it's you!'

I had a great time. Unfortunately, having recently had that horrible cold, then spending all day travelling on three hours of sleep, then standing in the sauna that was the Peel's main room meant I had to have a little break outside during Alan Reed's set. But I finally got to see him live! I missed him at Mattfest and Celebr8, so was starting to get annoyed with the constant near-misses. I'm so glad I caught most of his set there, though. The man really can sing and he handles his guitars very well indeed. I had a good, long chat with him afterwards with Robert and he's a lovely chap as well. My reputation from here precedes me, though - he knew who Mouse was and now he knows who I am.  Cheesy  I came away with both of his CDs and can't wait to give them a spin.

Galahad weren't for me, I'm afraid. Another band who I respect for being very good at what they do, but were too much like a sledgehammer on my ears. So, I spent the rest of the evening chatting with Twitch, Bo, Bert, Nellie, Paul, Helen (Purrdey and Ash during the break between bands), the afforementioned Alan and Robert, and one Clive Nolan. I asked him about 'next steps' I could take for my music work and was pleased to find that he suggested what I've actually been doing for the last three years.  Grin  He's a nice guy, too! Everyone in prog is so nice...

The Galahad bass player looked exactly like Hudson, Kryten's replacement from Red Dwarf III. Scary.

I agree about Galahad - which was why I wasn't there.

I thought Galahad's new bass player was Mark Spencer.  At least, that what Alan and Mark said at the Magenta gig the week before.

I enjoyed Galahad at Winter's End, but not enough to travel 90 odd miles.
They are a good album band though.
On a slightly different subject, I shall hopefully have a different car soon. This should make a Peel trip easier, now just to pick one tp attend.

There aren't many to choose from at the Peel, and two of those are on a Friday evening.

Sat 13Oct - Jadis
Fri 2Nov - IOEarth & The Tangent (which clashes with TF&TD)
Fri 7Dec - Maiden United

I have tickets for the last two.

I also realise that I'm off work next week.  There is a small chance that I might get up to the Unicorn on Tuesday - this is the day that I'm flying back in from Germany.
