I got a couple from Canada, and wondered if it might have been you or a couple of other people I know over there  Smiley

27 miles carrying a 25lb bergen after leaving the office at 1730 and getting back at 0835, with a few hours sleep in my bivi bag by the reservoir while it rained.

It was brilliant fun  Grin

British National Road Race champs today on a 14.2km course in Glasgow, the women did 8 laps and the men 13.

I walked every inch of the course today from one end to the other and back again did some spots more than once and Glasgow isn't flat.

By the time I was walking from Glasgow Green back to my hotel my legs were in bits and I found myself quoting cyclist Jens Voigt who famously shouted from his bike on a stage of the tour de France "Shut Up Legs".

At some point I'll plot my route and find out how far I actually walked.

I love that quote from Jens !

I also love the quote from Steve Prefontaine "The only good race pace is suicide pace, and today looks like a good day to die."

That's a really good distance.  No wonder you were tired.

Here are the maps showing where I walked if your interested

Map 1

Map 2

Had to split it in two as google maps wouldn't let me add any more points.  Map 1 starts at my hotel goes to the start/finish line in Glasgow green from there I follow the race route backwards although I didn't follow the route exactly through the city centre as there were specific spots I wanted to take photos from and as the inward and outward parts of the lap where just a few streets apart I could cross between them.

Map 1 ends in Kelvingrove Park which is where I was for the start of the Men's race and that's where Map 2 starts it then follows the race back into the city and back to the finish line at Glasgow Green.  From there I went back to my hotel on Elmbank Street.

Finally managed to get out on the bikes tonight - most of it was slow as Mme Cholet was going at a somewhat sedate pace, but I managed a couple of faster sections. Overall about 7 miles and we went past the end of the road we hope to be moving into soon. It will take me not much time at all to get home from work, but it will still be about 6 miles a day.

I don't think we heard enough about the pen you had with you.

That's a great accomplishment, James, well done!

You're right - the pen was branded, so I should have mentioned the law firm I got it from !

That was brilliant fun, and now I know my bivi bag still works I can go anywhere...
