It'll save wasting money on unnecessary hotels for faraway gigs.

We went to Hambleden for a walk today, and if you want to see the remarkable topiary you will need to look here

Back to the gym today for the first time in 5 weeks.

Felt good. In the interim I've lost 7 pounds, which makes things a bit easier!

Once I've got this moving house business out of the way, I'm going back to focusing on eating better, exercising more, etc. Now I've lost four stone of bulk, I need to shape up the rest that remains. I think I'm going to invest in some proper walking boots for long distance rambles, some running shoes / trainers so I can start jogging, and I think there's a small gym just down the road from our new place, so I'll have to check that out and see if there's anything of interest there.

Thanks to the house's more central location (still in Hull, sadly, but still), I'm planning on walking everywhere, which will not only save money on bus fares, but will be good for me.

Excellent stuff from both of you  Smiley

Mouse, let's have a word before you buy the boots so that you get the correct pair...  Do you have any groups doing bootcamps near you ?  Might be better than the gym and more cost effective.

No idea. Frankly, I'm not interested in getting involved with anything like that locally as I don't intend on sticking around for long. As for the boots, I'd appreciate some advice, but let me move first, eh?  Smiley

Just got back from an amble from Alton to Farnham.  I used to live in Alton and it's the first time I've been back there for ages.   I was struggling by the end and relieved to get to Farnham station 10 minutes before the train was due.  We all got on, and then we were off - for all of 50 yards when the driver reported a broken signal and the train was cancelled.

Still, it was about 10 or 11 miles.  I'm all ready for my holiday next week.  I have passport, phrase book and GB plates.

Managed fifteen miles on the bike over the weekend, although of limited benefit because most of it was at small persons' speed - I did go shooting off on a couple of small "sprints" such as I could manage to at least get the heartrate up a little.

I too am hoping that my impending (God/asshole humans* willing) move will lead inevitably to better fitness as I will have a three-mile each way cycle to work every working day other than hurricane or deep snow. Some days I will add the loop round Cardiff Bay that we did today as I'll already be at the start of the loop.

It'll probably be different in Hull. Everything else is.
