Is it ALL strenuous exertion for 3 minutes?
The tabata I did went further than what they are saying in that article.

I did 8 different exercises, doing them at full tilt for 20 seconds each, with a 10 second rest inbetween each 20 seconds.  I then repeated it 3 times, so in total I was working out for 12 minutes, and 8 minutes of that was actually doing the exercise - overall 1 minute on each exercise.

If anyone remembers me mentioning my tabata training (which I think had a great effect on my overall level of fitness), here is an article about something very similar

That was in the Radio Times this week, too. I've been doing at least a single session (60 seconds of full pelt pedalling) since Sunday. Not a bad thing to add on top of all the other movement throughout the day.

I did a tiny bit of running around yesterday, and today my legs are killing me, can barely walk.
Clearly I am in worse shape than I could imagine. Sad

Back to the tabata...when I was reading up about it I was struck by a comment that if you can do it twice in a week then you did not do it properly the first time.  That is how intense the 20 seconds have to be.
