There's a lot of tents at Reading. You don't have to be enormous to get a spot.

Electric garden is a festival we would be dead keen to play at and some enquiries have been made. You'll understand though that this was a first time experience for the guys that organised it and so we are backing away from getting all pushy to allow them to recoup their energy and decide if they want to give it another crack next year. RoSfest runs on rails but that's not to say that George and Krista were not complete jibbering wrecks by the time the doors opened - who knows how stressful it must have been for the Electric garden organisers.
Ken Foster is possibly the calmest man in the world. I asked him, at one point when it was going a bit mad on the first afternoon, how he was feeling, and he looked at me with what can only be described as a weary smile and said "well, it's a little bit stressful at the moment".

It helped that only one of the acts was awkward squad...

I really think you guys should be on at High Voltage Festival. If The Reasoning and Mostly Autumn can get on the bill I can't see why you shouldn't be able to.

I've been thinking about it.

Yes, so have I. Of course I know nothing about such things but I've based a career operating like that and it seems to have worked out pretty well so far.

I've also discussed it with a couple of people who are in the business and I'm pretty sure they they would come on board.

When's the first planning meeting?  Grin I already know the bands I'd have on  Grin

Last year there was a 2 day "festival" in Bury St Edmunds at The Apex. They had Focus and a number of other names there. Don't know how well it went but that might be a good one to research if they're doing it again.

There's a great little venue in Stratford - just the right size and everything, and very close to the Tube and rail. Problem is, the previous management were so far up their own collective bottoms that they couldn't get the idea that an all-dayer of that sort could be a real money-spinner for them in bar take alone. The idea of something as 'English' as a prog festival was simply too uncool.

However, the management has changed - twice, I think - so it may be worth another go.

I've got a few irons heating in the prog fire at the moment which aren't specifically to do with gig promotion. However, it's not out of the question to hang it on the same peg.

The European Perspective all-dayer, anyone?

How about an all dayer with Hoing and Shineback?
That would be fun!

I honestly think the focus should be on continental Europe - I gave the sample cds to the first people who answered 'no' to the question 'have you heard of the band Tinyfish' at The Night of the Prog...so the sample cds went to the first 30 people I asked...

It is all very well doing festivals in the UK, but unless you get on the bigger ones or the bigger stages, you will be preaching to the already converted.

So I would say Night of the Prog and ProgSud - and I will ask my contact at Lazuli who you contact for ProgSud because they just played it.

You make a good point James and we are doing everything we can to reach out further into Europe. Can I aslo say thank you muchly for handing out the CD as well. we (as a;ways) appreciate every little drop of help you and indeed everyone here at the Fishtank can give us w*nkers in the band.

I check out the ProgSud website and it looks absolutely excellent. I would so, so very much like to play in France at some point in the future as it's the one foreign language that both James and I would have a halfway decent chance of being able to chat to the audience with.  Smiley
