Following the theme of solo albums by musicians better known as band players - a suggestion from Paul this week, Alex Lifeson's solo project, Victor

Don't get your hopes up too much.
Personally I found it quite interesting when I heard it years ago, but nothing stood out.
I shall listen again with older (wiser / jaded) ears.

Oh man, I loved this album and played it to death when it came out. Victor contains one song which sounds more like Rush than Rush in the form of Start Today. The ex Four Non Blondes singer Dalbello does an amazing Geddy circa 2112 impression. Like a bumble bee, the bastard thing should never fly but happily it does!

Plus, it also has Shut Shuttin' Up which is both brilliant and very Alex. You'll know what I mean when you hear it.  Wink I remember Paul and I happily yelling 'shut...shut...shut up!' in the car on the way to the recording sessions for the first Men Are Dead album.

4 stars from me as it's the best Rush album never made.

The production values are very much in the style of the late 90/00 era Rush so it is lacking a bit in bottom end warmth but Alex's strong melodic talent and sense of humour shine through well. It's good to listen to stuff like this and Geddy's solo effort, My Favourite Headache as you can see better how and what they bring to the table for the group albums.

You can't beat a good warm bottom end, I always say.
