Sadly I know from personal experience that as you grow older, your singing range begins to drop which is great for reaching the low notes and gifting your voice a certain amount of weight but a bit crap if you are Jimmy The Cheese who is expected to reach all those hair metal high notes, night after night.

Also, this has been a long tour. Doesn't he have some kind of operatic training too? That should protect him somewhat altough he did have that ruptured vocal chord problem just before Awake.
