Although if he can't make it you'll get Benoit David instead.

More folk - Grubby Jack are playing the Vic in Swindon this evening. They're playing in the bar, not the music room, so it should be relaxed evening.

Yesterday morning, I saw that a gig was happening at the Adelphi featuring a Dutch band called Snowapple. Three girls, all multi-instrumentalists, all singing harmonies. I'm a sucker for vocal harmonies, so I popped along to see what was what. And it was one of the most astonishing things I've seen live. Have a listen here and keep an eye out when they come back to the UK in October.

Grubby Jack at the Vic in Swindon were another band that interested me enough to want to see them again, preferably with a larger audience.
A trio of banjo (or ukelele), fiddle, and guitarist/vocalist, they played a mix of folk, Levellers, Bob Dylan and Steve Earle. Nothing too maudlin, or too country, or too frantic, just well paced and well played.
That makes 3 local folk-ish bands in as many weeks, so things may be looking up. I've also heard rumours of a 'prog'-ish duo called Spiral Key, but I missed their last gig, so perhaps Swindon isn't completely dead yet.

I realise that I missed Mostly Autumn last night as I had to cut the grass.
