First, the official press release:

We are delighted to announce Bad Elephant Music's second partnership!

Joining Shineback as part of the BEM family, please say a big hello to The Gift.

Founded by Mike Morton and Leroy James, The Gift's first album, Awake and Dreaming, was released in 2006 to rave reviews. For many and varied reasons the band weren't able to promote the album, and it's only in the last couple of years that Mike has revived The Gift with new writing partner Dave Lloyd and new songs that will constitute Land of Shadows, to be released on BEM later this year.

There are also plans to revisit Awake and Dreaming, and The Gift is also looking to make its first live outings in 2013.

David Elliott, BEM's CEO said: "I'm delighted that Mike and Dave have decided to partner with Bad Elephant Music for the release of their new album. Awake and Dreaming is a personal favourite of mine, and Land of Shadows is easily as good an album. It also pleases me immensely that Mike and Dave enjoy a curry".

Mike Morton said: "We are delighted to be signed to BEM. They are true music lovers, and really support the Ďartí whilst marketing it with muscle. David Elliott is also the poster boy of prog!"

For a taster of Land of Shadows visit the band's demo page at http://www.thegiftmusic.com/av.php

Awake and Dreaming was one of the albums that first got me back into listening to progressive rock after a long break, so I'm proper made up that The Gift are going to be releasing their next album on BEM. The principal recording is complete, with possibly a few pickups and mixing to be completed, and we're looking to release the album some time in the second half of this year.

Mike and Dave like a curry, too...

Excellent! I'm guessing you won't be asking them to gratuitously make it 25 minutes longer...

I guess that means it's time for the monthly ritual where we hold James upside down until money falls out.

Grin

Nor will I be telling them that they need to pad the credits with fake band members because no-one will take a two-piece band seriously.

Oh, and a third 'signing' may be imminent. After I've consulted with James, of course...

Perhaps you should give up the record business and concentrate on selling these time machines you seem to have a surfeit of.
