This evening, I went out for a drink with three mates. I didn't intend to, but just went along because it was a nice day and a nice idea. I've had so much fun tonight - lots of laughs, lots of drink and fish n' chips. I'm in a very happy mood, and I love everything at the moment, especially this forum and Tinyfish!

OMG OMG OMG OMG
I just found out that Laurie Anderson is playing the Barbican in April.
I got a front and centre circle seat for the 15th.
That is a BIG DEAL for me.

Rob Ramsay and I went to see Laurie Anderson at the Barbican a few years back and she was just as funny and as perceptive as ever. She told a story of her re-examining her role as an artist and summised that she was getting too comfortable in her rich surroundings, so she stopped what she was doing and went to work in MacDonalds for a month.
She truly is cut from a very different cloth from the rest of us.

It was the fact that she said (in that "Hide the sharp objects" voice of hers)
"For the first time in my career as an artist, I could give people exactly what they asked for."
And I can deeply recommend her album "Strange Angels".
"I don't know about your brain - but my brain is really... bossy... I come home from the golf course and find lots of notes written on wrinkled up scraps of paper. Saying things like 'You and whose army' and 'get a horse'"

Fortunately I'm not in trouble for only getting myself a ticket (there was a single ticket for sale in the front row of the balcony and I couldn't get hold of Mme Cholet)
She came to the last LAurie Anderson thing at the Barbican and liked it but not wildly like I did.
We'll both be having our tea there and watching the finches play guitar though.

Today I found a local farm selling free range eggs which I am happy to purchase until I acquire my very own chickens in the not too distant future.

Now that is so cool. I'd love to have my own chickens.

Last night I watched "Men Who Stare at Goats" and I can safely say that I haven't laughed at a movie so hard since... a very, very long time ago.
