The college has issued me with free ear plugs, which will no doubt come in handy for Touchstone at The Peel in December.

I was glad I had a set in my camera bag for the Satriani gig on Monday,  it was quite loud down at the front

Earplugs are essential equipment.  I remember after Hackett at last year's SE, I couldn't hear a thing because my ears were ringing.  Normally this wouldn't be a problem but Rob Reed headed straight for me and tried to have a conversation.

I'm finally a convert after Summers' End - at last I managed a full gig with a pair in and still enjoyed it.

My problem was that I was pushing them in so far that they created a vacuum in my ear canal which not only made me ears go all funny, but also caused every little sound I made to reverberate around inside my head (e.g. singing along, clapping, oh, I dunno, breathing...)

Push them in far enough to block a fair bit of sound but not far enough to hear your own heartbeat, and you're laughing!

...which may go some way to explaining why there were subsequent girlfriends? Wink
